Opponent playing arena blitz while he is paired in classical swiss

I'm currently waiting basically an hour doing nothing, while the opponent I'm paired against is playing in an Arena blitz tournament. How is this even possible? How can a player be in two tournaments simultaneously?

Lichess should not allow it.

It would be quite restrictive to disallow it completely as there are also swiss tournaments with one round per day or even one round per week. But for tournaments with rounds following one another or arena style tournaments it does indeed make little sense to be able to be active in two of them at the same time.

Correspondence could be made exempt to the rule. I must say: It was mostly annoyance that drove me to post this topic. There could be a rule for it, but oh... how I wish we didn't need rules like that to begin with.

Watching my opponent's clock run down for half an hour in the starting position, while seeing him play blitz in a tournament... it felt so wrong.

I wasn't talking about correspondence. There are classical swiss tournaments on Lichess with one round per day or one round per week.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I may look into that, never noticed them.

It's better that LiChess allow no start the tournament in stad-by when the como un Courses Is finished.
