Any GO/Baduk Players here? Anyone interested in learning?

Greetings!

Chess is not the only great board game! GO/Baduk/Weiqi is an Asian board game with utterly simple rule but great complexity. As you may know it too AI to finally defeat GO Professionals which was far more advanced than old Deep Blue. I enjoy GO, and play Chess off and on, though not well. Actually I am not that good at either.

And yes you can enjoy both! I would be interested in learning Shogi also, but I do not need a past time with no one to play in person.

So I am wondering are there other GO players or is anyone interested in learning GO? Best wishes!!

I used to play go on Pandanet.

But I stopped when they upgraded the client. It was awful.

I kept using the old one, but other than open a board, I couldnt even see the games being played (I liked to watch when I was on queue), so I ended up stopped playing.

Also, stopped having that much free time, so I couldnt really play 25-40 min games.

I dont recall if my last rank was 14K or 13K. But I was around that.

If I play today, I will probably play like a 16k.

I did wanted to learn Shogi, but I dont understand the characters of the pieces. If they were figurines it would have been easier to learn. Never mustered the will to actually try to do so.

You could play on OGS online GO server. Easy to find a game live or correspondence, with unlimited time possibilities. Shogis characters may look hard but I learned Hsiang Chi/Elephant Chess with the characters, it was not hard. My issue, is it would be nice to play in person and not have another game with no one to play with. :)

life does happen. But if u made your own board, you were into it! Fall and winter are a good time to meet over some nibbles, drinks and GO. Summer it is nice to sit outside and play!

Try OGS online GO server. You do not have to download anything it is all web based. Not as popular as the asian servers, but is practically better. You can look me up Crankydragon.
