The sound of a checkmate scares me.

Ah yes I know the feeling

Sitting back enjoying a nice cup of coffee

You see a beautiful tactic forking the queen and the rook by going right at the pinned pawn

And then suddenly you dart your head as the painful game lost sound whips right out at you

You look at the board and what do you see

A queen on h7 looking at me!

Your head does a triple take and you grab at your hair

As you sit there whining not fair not fair!

I've been playing without the sound of the pieces for a long time now. I don't see anything strange

On the one hand, I would like to help somehow, but on the other hand, it's so funny to read) To be honest, I used to have similar feelings about these sounds, but everything changed when I started playing chess with music. Then the sounds of the pieces started to bother me, and since then I've been playing without these sounds, so to be honest, it seems to me that there is only one solution here

@Interesting_choice That little click when you make a move is a nice, gentle reminder for slow players like me - make a move bozo!
Maybe excellent players like yourself have better levels of concentration, so you could play chess on a rollercoaster, with, or without earmuffs :D
