For your second question, I think not. Except perhaps in Japan or Korea, in moderate amounts. But definitely nothing approaching the universality of English. In fact English is probably more universal than Chinese in Asia.

I'm not sure though but here is the recipe for a bao bun
- 25 g all-purpose flour (about 2 tbsp)
- 1⁄8 tsp instant yeast (a pinch)
- ½ tsp sugar
- ½ tsp neutral oil (like canola)
- 12 ml warm water (about 2½ tsp)
