Humpy will likely withdraw

Maybe different from popular view but I personally regard Humpy as the clear sole favorite of the women's candidates.
Reminds me of Radjabov, who turned out to be absolutely correct. However this time if Humpy turns out to be correct it's doomsday.

Can't blame her, to be honest.

Unfortunately FIDE is probably quite unwilling to relocate or reschedule the tournaments for financial reasons.

But then everyone will have 2 extra rest days no? Is there going to be any replacement for Koneru?

According to the Candidates Regulation (articles 2.2 and 3.4), the replacement would be next yet unqualified player of FIDE Women's Events 2024-25. As far as I can see, that would by Anna Muzychuk.

However, the tournament starts in less than two weeks which makes such replacement kind of problematic. And it's not clear if there won't be more players concerned about the safety.

Personally I hope more players stand up and team up with Humpy immediately. Even in best scenario, under safety pressure the players won't have a good time there.

You cannot just replace for someone because that person did not have any time to prepare for anyone.

This would come with a clear disadvantage no

That's what I meant by pointing out there is not much time left.

It wouldn't be fair to others either. But, of course, much worse for that replacement player.

Could still be better than not qualifying at all for the replacement player, but it might actually feel weird to replace someone just because they find the venue unsafe while you don't. After all it's the exactly same venue....
