Hey guys!
Since it looks like the Atomic Chess World Championship is quite the success, I thought it would be prudent to conduct a Crazyhouse Chess World Championship! Most of the top crazyhouse players are here, and I expect all of them would be interested in such a lovely online event. The time control will probably be blitz (3+2), but much of this tournament is still only a rough idea. If enough players express interest, I'll let the crowd decide, of course! After all, I only plan to be the organizer of this event; this tournament should be discussed among the big guns.

i personally would be delighted with the idea of a zh world championship, especially after missing the atomic wc :)
Yup :). You'd definitely make the cut. I just hope more people reply and get excited over this event.
Do you think they'll be a lower rating limit for this event?
On the 3+2 time control - I think most of the top crazyhouse players play much faster games, usually without increment. At least I always see players like jannlee, mastertan, opperwezen playing 1 0 or 3 0. I'd suggest sticking to what the top players play regularly and maybe avoid increment.

Do you mean "there'll be" or "they'll make"? Either way, it's up to the players to decide. Your system of having a certain number of players sign up and then having the people who don't make the cut for any exponent of 2 (like 32 for the atomic WC) play out a qualification match is very good.
Yeah, I'm aware of that, but I don't want to see low quality games, you know? The piece drops in zh make it so that some speculative sacrifices can work pretty well, but the longer the time control, the easier the refutation is to find. If it were up to me TBH, I'd have the players play 15 + 10, LOL, but no one would agree to that, unfortunately.
well, i can say that i agree with tipau on that 1 0 is what most top players play (i always watch jannlee on youtube) and 1/2 0 and 1 0 are the time controls i play (i rarely play any longer). i understand that shorter time controls result in worse(?) quality games, but even when faced with a speculative sacrifice, top players like jannlee and opperwezen wont lose to one. i think that 1 0 or maybe 3 0 max would be a good time control, and then best of 9 for matches? :)
I'd have to disagree with the statement "top players like JannLee and opperwezen wont lose to one;" they will and they do :P. I can post some proof if you don't believe my analysis - if you always watch Jann, you should know what I'm talking about.
I don't really mind that much. 3 / 0 is as low as I'll go, though. This isn't a bullet championship...and definitely not hyperbullet. This is coming from a guy who feels that bullet is too slow - but hey, you gotta force yourself to do "annoying" things if you want to improve as a chess / chess variants player.

Lol, the ppl want bullet zh yet u refuse to give it to them due to good reason which I agree with, but then u shouldnt say that it is the ppl choice.

I was being a bit of a confused teenager there, LOL (and I'm not even a teenager :P). It's up to the people to decide, but I don't like the idea of a bullet WC...whatever, I'm not a top zh player and they can do whatever they want.
I'll post a strawpoll when more top players join this group :).
A suggestion I'd like to make is that matches should become longer towards the end of the tournament. As they get closer and more important a match of 10 or so seems quite short.
That's something I'd change about the Atomic WC if doing it again.
