Among Us Text Game - Player Quick-Start Guide
Roles
Crewmates
Crewmates need to complete assigned tasks and participate in Day discussions and voting. During Night, they must remain silent. Crewmates win if all impostors are ejected or all tasks are completed.
Impostors
Impostors pretend to do tasks and blend in with crewmates. They mislead discussions during the Day. Each Night, they secretly tell the host one crewmate to eliminate. Impostors win if their numbers equal the remaining crewmates.
Detective (1 per game)
The Detective can privately ask the host to check one player each Night. The host will reply if that player is a Crewmate or an Impostor. The Detective cannot reveal this information directly and must hint subtly during discussions. Only one check per Night is allowed, and the same player cannot be checked twice. If eliminated, the Detective becomes a ghost and loses their powers.
Game Phases
Night
All players remain silent. Impostors send their elimination choice to the host. The Detective sends their check request to the host. The host records all actions and announces results at the start of Day.
Day
The host announces the Night results, including who was eliminated. Players discuss suspicions. The host may assign fun tasks, which players must complete to contribute to the Crewmate victory.
Fun Tasks
Examples of fun tasks include creating a short story from a set of emojis, continuing a word chain, solving a riddle, identifying a false statement in Spot the Liar, completing a secret behavior assigned by the host, drawing simple objects using text, writing captions for an image, answering Would You Rather or poll questions, guessing a song/movie/game from emoji hints, solving brain teasers, or continuing a number or letter pattern. Impostors may fake tasks to mislead crewmates. (we can discuss about games later..before the game starts)
Ghosts
Eliminated players become ghosts. Ghosts must remain silent and cannot vote or influence discussion. They may complete tasks if allowed by the host.
Voting
During Day, all players discuss openly and vote to eject a player. A majority vote results in ejection and the host reveals the player’s role. If votes are tied, no one is ejected.
Detective Guidelines
The Detective can check one player per Night by private message to the host. The information must be used subtly during discussions without revealing the check directly. Critical hints should be timed strategically.
Victory Conditions
Crewmates win if all impostors are ejected or all tasks are completed. Impostors win if their numbers equal the remaining crewmates.
Example Round Flow
During Night, impostors choose a kill and the Detective checks a player. During Day, the host announces eliminations, assigns fun tasks, players discuss, vote, and eject a player. Repeat Night and Day until one team wins.
