There's nothing like playing over the board. :-)
Deep work can allow you to enjoy the complexity of chess itself, separated from results.
And therefore is good for all walks of chess. Lots of wisdom in that blog. Also, so that is why I can't do long flow sessions, I loose track of time, and that has consequences... :) Did not know that some people tried to tackle that notion. Will be reading that wikipedia article.
