Of course the Sicilian is not dubious, but a lot of people play the Sicilian without understanding the positions very well and get dubious positions. They choose the Sicilian only because of it's fighting nature, regardless if they play badly in the middlegame positions.
A lot of people probably don't know that they can play quite well in e4 e5 positions simply because they avoid the classical symmetrical openings
