” puzzles have a big problem: they only cover one kind of position”. No that is not at all true. There are very many high quality books where the puzzles are strategic, positional. How on earth can you not know this?
Just check out books by e.g., Aagaard, and many other authors too.

that's how I learned chess: playing solitaire chess. I do this regularly, as I don't like playing classic chess online, I train like that and then play friendly OTB games against other people. I do this as often as possible, thanks for giving advice so I can explore more!
