Black breaks in d5 instead to play a symmetric defense with f5 more solid but passive. Why did Caruana think that Qe2 was necessary?

I looked at the position and played f4 instead of Qe2. Interestingly the computer suggested Qe7 for Black at that point. Maybe Caruana just wanted the option to castle Queenside early for a reason I do not know.

It's a pity to do not know what Caruana thought to play Qe2. It's also strange the ?! symbol. Maybe the white plan was 0-0-0 and break g4 ( being careful with a Nh4) because he expected a symmetric defense. But symmetric and solid is not fit for Kasparov.
There are many games where even first move is almost a mistake for module.

Regarding moves "a"/"h" pawns, this is a rather complex topic. However, from my own experience, I can say when you wrote

, then my version is that it is always best to open the queen first so that the queen has time to enter the game, except in the case of QBB... (i.e. bishops on bc squares, and the queen stands in the corner). P.s. Unfortunately I can’t remember when it didn’t work.

Were the games Spike - Rybka and BlackMarlin 9.0-dev-82ace40e - Wasp 7.01 played on Arena Chess GUI or did you find them somewhere? It’s just that I also thought about using the engines to play Fischer’s chess, but they started to malfunction: either they ate their own pieces, then they didn’t castling, or they made impossible moves; I still haven’t figured out how to solve this

Games between engines I found them in a private database, I could use it thanks to the gentle owner.
Do not try Arena, it is unuseful for 960, I use Pychess. It is free and works good. I am sure that it is possible to play games between engines.
