What specifically is "nonsense"? If GMs have these rules memorized then what is wrong about what I am saying?

The fact that there are so many exceptions to the "rules" is exactly what's wrong with them. They are badly formulated rules. Most commentators do a very poor job reasoning and talking about chess.
