Great Blog
Thanks!
@Knight_Jockey You are welcome :D
Thanks!
What is a party
@loristavernier i saw that you had started chess at 15 and became a cm in like 4 years. Maybe you can make a blog next on how you achieved that, how you studied, how many hours etc etc.
I wrote a first part already, you can check my profile and find the post about how I became a Candidate Master.
I also recorded a whole video on YouTube on my YouTube channel.
Thank you for asking
That's nice
So the post says practice openings and dont stress? Thats the most basic and useless advice ever.
From my experience in pushing elo online the most important thing is managing tilt and discipline.
you HAVE TO QUIT playing when you feel like you are tilting, and you know this feeling well. take a break and clear your mind, its not an advice its mandatory.
you will improve if you play consisntenly.
you dont have to analyze every game, but you have to indentify mistakes and prevent them in the future; didnt know what to do in the opening? - study it; mistake in the endgame? practice holding/winning the endgame with computer; froze and didnt know what to do? - take your time analyzing the position to feel it better
i cant help you fix the rating anxiety cuz i struggle with this a lot, but ot goes away when its my 2nd time at a given rating e.g. i was 2298 i lost 2 i won 2 and the anxiety goes away for me. Also i have a 2nd acc which helps me a little.
for your opening repertoire: ONLINE != CLASSICAL, dont play very theoretical lines you dont feel 100% comfortable with, stray from difficult position, play systems, easy to learn with a lot of play.
dont resign. "but 2500 will beat me up a piece every time" no they wont and its good practice, mistakes happen and will happen learn to deal with the consequences, losing != you lost, i myself saved and thrown countless games (down and up queens)
dont learn lines learn ideas. find popular systems and learn how to play against them (london, kings indian, phillidor, queens indian, bird, stonewall)
learn from the best, watch better players play, ask questions if possible and analyze their games. learn != copy, if they play 1.d4 and you like 1.e4 you dont have to copy, you have to learn what they do better in 1.d4 than you do in 1.e4
DONT TRADE PIECES your new mindset is you are better than your every opponent. avoid trades that dont acomplish anything, trade if you improve or if neccessary
PLAN play with a plan, always have an idea, move or sth cooking and ready to go
respect your opponent, chess is 2 player game. Dont focus only on your own plans, respond to theirs threat aswell
I hope i didnt miss anything, if you have any questions dm me, dont respond in the blog
my aim for this year was to reach 2200 across all format but achieved that in sep. so next goal is 2300 for dec 2024. for next year i will try hitting 2500.
