Lichess Titled Accounts: Why FIDE and National Federations but not any variants?
The titles shown on Lichess accounts are meant to show achievement, so why ignore all the skilled variant players and communities?I find it a little infuriating that Lichess is so supportive of variants and yet does not allow the community-founded organizations to give titles to be shown on the players accounts. For example, look at the Antichess, Horde, and Atomic communities, where you are able to be rewarded with a title for your hard work in the variant. I think these types of titles should be instituted in every variant on Lichess.
I also think these titles should be displayed on the titleholder's Lichess account just like FIDE titles.
Why give preference to the ruling bodies of standard chess (FIDE, USCF, etc.) for titles and not allow the ruling bodies of variants to bestow/display them as well? There is no reason that FIDE and national standard chess federations should be the only title-giving groups on the planet. It feels as though the variants are left out of the equation of Lichess titles.
I would like to know if there is a good reason for this or not, and if not, whether the titles will ever be certified and given out by Lichess or not.
