Biggest Blunders of the World Cup 2025 (Classical)

Great read, painful positions but very instructive and super useful for training!

What a collection! I think many of these "blunder moves" seem natural. Is there a way for us to train our brain to get better at spotting those?

Glad you liked it :) For me, it basically means doing tactical puzzles slowly, for example here on Lichess, not just clicking through them one after another, but really focusing. Also, doing puzzles that are aimed at spotting your opponent’s resources, and of course reviewing your own blunders.

Do you have trouble with blunders yourself, sir?

Agree! That was the biggest heartbreak of the tournament. Simple blunder, but under extreme pressure.

The fact that these are the biggest blunders show how high the playing strength is in the world cup
