My first over the board tournament
It was Christmas, 25th December 2021 when I went for my first over the board tournament! I was so excited to go, that it was all I could talk about ever since I registered for the tournament! Did you feel the same way when you went for your first over the board tournament?Out of joy, I got up at 6.30 in the morning to get ready. I had my score sheets ready, my pens, water and meals. I was ready to go! I reached there at 8.30 am and explored the hall. The hall consisted of two floors. There were about 150 boards on each floor! As I was playing in an open district tournament, may people were playing.
At 9 am, the announcements and specials mentions began, for the chief guests. And at 10 am,, the first round started! I felt a bit nervous, but I was so excited!! The time control was 35+5. My opponent was a 1400 fide rated player. Here was how the game went-
I know this wasn't my best game, and I made some silly blunders, but I learnt from this.
My second game began at 12 pm. But my opponent didn't come to play! So for that i got a bye. Till now I was enjoying a lot! Even though I lost, I was having a blast.
My third game started at 2 pm. Here's how that game went-
That game was very easy! I enjoyed winning that game. I had my last round at 4 pm which I lost, but was not demotivated. I enjoyed my time and my experience playing there. I hope I go for more tournaments like this. What was your guys experience playing in your first over the board tournament?
