Fleischmann (Forgacs) - Cohn, St. Petersburg, 1909
The Other Lasker's NotesThe Chigorin Memorial Chess Festival, honoring the founder of the Soviet Chess School, has been held since 1909. In round nine of the inaugural tournament, Leo Fleischmann and Erich Cohn played the Queen's Gambit Declined.
Leo Fleischmann played well at strong tournaments until giving up chess after WWI; he sometimes played under the name Forgacs in honor of his local chess club. Erich Cohn excelled in shorter tournaments and matches but would fade towards the end of longer events; his promising chess career ended when he was killed driving an ambulance during WWI.
Edward Lasker annotated the game in 1915.
