A New Challenger Arises! TCWC '24-25' Grand Finals!!

Another year of TCWC has wrapped up in epic fashion.

Battling his way to grand finals, GM Miroslav Miljković @MiroMiljkovic took down IM Alejo Ismael Gimenez Aguirre @Parkour and strong contender @TommyPug in the semifinals and finals matches respectively.

This year's bracket was the first to feature single elimination which left little to no room for error for competitors... including former TCWC champion @VariantsOnly who was knocked out by IM Parkour in round 3!

Tied up after 10 games in this best of 20 (first to 10.5) match, GM Miljković had an incredible opportunity to win with the black pieces in game 11.

He found an incredible only move: 16.Kg7!! which saved the position and brought black a solid advantage (roughly what white starts with in the opening position!)

With the score 8-6 and the match nearly on the line, Miljković found himself in a fine position once again with black in game 15.

After a curious 20. Qc4 from Kasioumis black was able to break thru on the light squares eventually finding a crushing 24.Rxg2!! combination for the brilliant finish (seen in the thumbnail)!

Pushing the match score to 9-6 this proved to be an insurmountable task for the battle hardened Kasioumis to defend.

Kasioumis was also the runner up in the Chess dot com 3 check championship this year and secured his spot in the annals of 3 check history with this historic season.

GM Miljković will enjoy his first TCWC win in style with the honorable trophy (found in the bio of past winners @VariantsOnly and @UnholyCrusade), and with another year lurking in the distance we can only imagine what lies ahead for TCWC 25'-26'!
