What is calculation?

We all see players and masters be able look at a positions and find the almost perfect moves. How well its off something called calculation. Calculation is a process where you think of something called candidate moves these are moves that look most responsible to you. You can get not much candidate moves to about 1-3 and sometimes you can get a lot to about 4-6. But the whole point of candidate moves is limit them to only 1 or 2 moves. So what should you think when have found a candidate move. First you must think what benefits does this move have for your position. Then you want to see any counter play by your opponents and what they can do to stop your threats. And see what impact it has on your position. Also if the candidate move does not have a purpose or an idea don’t play that move cause all your moves need some type of explanation. Well that’s calculation. The more you use calculation the more familiar you will become with it.
