Game #27 -Train your 3rd eye

Intuition guided search - Correspondence Game #01

This game didn't have much algorithm usage. It was just a search tree guided by intuition. In this game, most of the positions that occurred in the middle game were positions that I reached during my search. This was mainly because my search was well guided in the middle game by intuition. But my intuition was not very good when it came to the endgame phase. So I missed some of Stockfish's ideas simply because my intuition wasn't strong enough to guide me into positions that would reveal these ideas. If I had seen these ideas before when studying (or if I had paid special attention when I saw them), I wouldn't have missed these ideas during the game. If I had seen these ideas, there's a very high chance I would have been able to hold this one. Nonetheless, this wasn't the worst game ever. I am quite happy that I could play against Stockfish's Ragozin on an equal level, at least until I made my first inaccuracy on move number 33.

Lessons from this game:
> Study more games that reached the endgame phase (poor endgame play)
> Improve the variety of your search (missing ideas such as 36...g5 and 44...Ke4)
> Train your mind to see common patterns by studying endgame positions (26...c4 is a very common idea)

Intuition guided search

This is a very human approach to chess. As a human, you have a subconscious mind that recognizes patterns in day-to-day life. This pattern recognition can then be used to make quick decisions. After seeing a variety of different decisions you can make in this way and their consequential positions, you can then rank them according to your preference. This ranking part also requires intuition (according to this method). It's exactly the MCTS algorithm I used earlier in the series (which is not that different from what we do in our regular games, just a bit more specific), but presented in a more humanly applicable and simple way. The Club of Believers...

I have created a club for all of the people out there in the chess world who believe we can make a comeback against the machines we built decades ago to beat us at our craft of chess. Join The Club of Believers today. In this team, we try to discover an algorithm that will be able to defeat Stockfish consistently in a series of games. But no algorithm will be of use without practice. So, after reaching 20 members, I will contact jeffforever to register our team for the Lichess Bundesliga! We already have 10 members in the team, we just need 10 more! This is the beginning of a new story. We can win the Bundesliga because we are believers! We can do anything we set our mind on. So I invite all my viewers to join this awesome club to look for the perfect algorithm and improve your level with constant training together with me.
