The game started in The Queen's Gambit Declined and a few moves later they were both in an equal position on the board until Magnus made a big mistake on move 32 and it took Praggnanandhaa only a few moves to defeat Carlsen as he had a bishop in exchange of 3 pawns.

Ding Liren vs Praggnanandhaa R

Ding started the game in The King's Indian Attack and after a few exchanges, on move 37 he had a strong pawn on e7 which was threatening to promote but, Praggnanandhaa had built a strong pawn structure by then. He then exchanged a rook for the pawn on e7 and the bishop defending it. Ding made a huge mistake on move 42 allowing Praggnanandhaa to take advantage and ultimately winning the game. The pawn structure he built did not allow the rooks to come in.

Praggnanandhaa R vs Shakhriyar Mamedyarov

The game started in The Slav Defense and things were equal until Mamedyarov played Kg7 on move 23. Praggnanandhaa played g6 and after sacrificing the bishop pinned both the knights. Mamedyarov was able to defend the attack, also threatening a checkmate but Praggnanandhaa played the beautiful move Rg2 which finished the game. Praggnanandhaa sacrificed his pawns on the queen side just like Mamedyarov had sacrificed his pawns on the king side, but in the end Praggnanandhaa's attack was more powerful.

Praggnanandhaa R vs Magnus Carlsen

Praggnanandhaa opened the game with The Ruy Lopez opening and it was a classic game until move 37 when the queens and rooks were exchanged. It did not take Praggnanandhaa much time to win in the endgame after Carlsen blundered on move 40. This was the second time Praggnanandhaa has defeated Carlsen in 2022.
