1stYou know Maggi Carlson made a baseless accusation and got away with it .
2nd GM IM FM are given free memberships with no restrictions (other then no Russians)
3rd Maggie is just mad because he lost money.
4th If and only if you have proof of cheating say or do anything but don't say we believe but will not tell.
5 Because of 1 it will never go away. We should remove the incentives lower price funds do not let lower rated players play high rated players rated games or make money for winning.

- I literally just said in my last reply that I think no one should be retroactively banned.
- I'm not engaging in animalistic tribal screech fights. I'm not on team Magnus against your team Niemann.
This sort of sarcastic nitpicking shows that you don't have any interest in discussing the actual issue. You just want to argue.
How is it sarcasm to apply your words to examples? I'm not sure why you would immediately overreact to my comment and assume I care one bit for Magnus or Niemann. In my opinion, Niemann was rightfully banned from chess.com events and Magnus should face repercussions for baseless accusations about otb cheating. Both have behaved like children, let's not follow in their footsteps, alright?

This is a bizarre comment. Chess is chess. It's the same game online and offline. Cheating in chess online is absolutely unacceptable behavior, especially for a titled player.
As for this conspiracy theory that chesscom can't be trusted to ban cheaters... Do you really think that false positive bans are a significant problem? Not everyone who cheats gets caught, but certainly everyone who gets caught cheated.
Based on this and other comments of yours, this case is pretty clear. I'd strongly recommend you to a) drop your cancel culture attitude; b) educate yourself to actually understand the meaning of the words you use, and c) start playing offline chess finally so that you feel the vibes of real chess and not its online substitution, Mr. chesscom fanboi.

Regarding "In particular, it’s not clear to what extent penalties for online cheating should carry over to OTB tournaments":
USCF, FIDE, and other organizations have rules. While personalities of one website may have strong opinions about holding other organizations to a higher standard than they hold themselves to, is there any compelling reason for rules to change?
