Yes, because it's the development progress of Stockfish 17.
Even after minor releases (like 16.1), progression tests will still be made against Stockfish 16.

You can still use Stockfish with 1 thread:

option name Threads type spin default 1 min 1 max 1024
Lichess for their website decided to disable that option because:
due to the nature of how pthreads and web workers work together in lila-stockfish-web, running with a single thread can actually cause errors

I'm talking about in Chessbase - create UCI engine
It seems that trying to set it to 1 thread doesn't hold - it reverts back to 8

2 threads does hold but not it seems when set to 1
