Which Openings Actually Make Sense for Beginners?

1....e5 might be OK for complete beginners but it’s a horrible opening for post-beginners because the player with White has a ton of good, agressive options and it’s hard for Black to find the right defensive moves. I can say that as a 1...e5 player it took me a long time to know what to do against all options.

I believe the French defense is more powerful for post-beginners because it gives immediate counterplay against the center and is full of thematic ideas.

1....d5 against 1.d4 is not as horrible but oh my they will have to face oh so many London system players or even the dreaded Catalan.
