A near disaster at the "Pristina Open" 2025

What was the time control of this tournament? Was there any increment?

it was 90+30, 90 minutes for the whole game and 30 seconds increment

"I Wasnt able to play my moves fast enough, and in a terrible tragedy, instead of hitting my clock, i hit the table, and flagged."

  • How can you flag in 90+30? You have 30 seconds to play a move. Hyperbullet players play a whole game in 30 seconds.

seems stupid, but it takes a while to make moves, since its otb chess. and hyperbullet players can afford to get away with garbage moves, while i was trying to stop his attack, while he had plently of time left.

Youd be surprised how time flies in otb chess, when you have immersed yourself into the game for 4-5 hours, it starts to take effect

"seems stupid" * No, but strange.

"it takes a while to make moves" * Not 30 seconds.

"i was trying to stop his attack" * Was there a way to stop his attack? If yes, was it that difficult to find?

"he had plently of time left" * That allows you to think in his time.

  • Chess is exhausting. Yes, you get really tired by it. Maybe fatigue is an explanation?

again, he was playing instantly. 30 second otb is not much. the way to stop his attack was simple, but as the hours go by one sees as called "ghosts" of imaginary combinations. Please go get some otb experience before asking simple questions, that could even be answered by chess forums
