An Alex I worked with was fired for stalking another colleague. For weeks I had only heard his side of the story.
He really thought he was a romantic soul doing the right thing.

I really hope your colleague was okay after that; I imagine it would be much more scary in real life than it is now.

Since I think at least some of these things will be mentioned by anyone that does comment here:
- No, I do not currently have any contact with Alex.
- Yes, I do have the next best thing to "kid mode" - I have an alt I hide in occasionally. It's a nice thing to have an alt no one knows about, isn't it? :)
- Yes, I do block and report - this is not meant to be a blog to complain about moderation (which has been great!), but more so just to talk about my personal experiences. Blocking and reporting works great - I just feel that at a certain point when you meet this many people there's got to be a line drawn where we go "Hey, maybe there's a bigger problem here that we should get to the root of."
- Not every person mentioned here said what they said on Lichess - I'm a trusting person and I'm also pretty much everywhere, so some of these conversations took place on other websites as once I know someone well enough I'll usually talk to them on multiple sites and not just Lichess.
- I know that I made these situations worse for myself by not exiting earlier. That's beside the point though.
- While I tell Alex "Gg, wp" we don't have to do that in the chess world! I believe that we can still find a solution.
I would love to see what some of your solutions would be! And of course, if anyone has similar experiences that they would be comfortable sharing, they are welcome to do so here.

Вы действительно написали такой длиннющий блог из-за одного/нескольких неадекватных людей?
Зачем вы так сильно переживаете?

Please read the blog carefully. I stated in the beginning that there are multiple people here, and I named them all Alex for the sake of simplicity.
I'm worried because if such a thing could happen to me, how many other people could it happen to? Clearly, I'm not the only one.

My question is, WHY are you worried? These are simply inadequate people, there is no need to overreact.. I am sure that not only women, all people have faced threats and insults.

Yes I did, because so far I have had...let me count....at least seven people.

Yes, and at the same time, women in chess often face sexual harassment as well.
If I wanted to count "threats and insults" into this, it would be a different blog. This blog is about stalkers, groomers, etc. who actively seek out young girls and women as well for their own benefit.
I wouldn't count what I have written in this blog as overreaction. The quotes I gave are simply a small bit of what went on.
