Lichess Ladders: play quality classical games

without ladder it's not 'quality games'?

Not necessarily. Maybe without ladder it’s more variable games. You never know what you’ll get in the pool or arena. The controls on the ladder ensure that unreliable players don’t stick around for long.

Also, people join because they want to play long games so there is less chance of encountering a blitzer.

Can you please do this for rapid time controls?
Thank you!

I'm interested, but how does it work for someone with very limited availabilities? These days I play maybe 2-4h chess a week, would I be able to keep up?

For most ladders, when challenged, players have three days to schedule the game. Then they have two weeks to play the game. It would depend on how compatible your time is with other people. In the event where you can’t find a mutual time to play then the challenge can be cancelled. Players can also post their available times for others to see before issuing challenges.

These games are quite real experience. winning here in 30 30 and 60 30 is tougher. Opponenet explore what you are playing your weak moves. you feel the pressure to perform and that is the only way one improves. Play rapid all day vs play 1-2 of these games should always be in favor of these slow competitive games. quite a good amount of players are fide rated so they are preparing against you and you get a feel of real tourney.

Nobody said that. But in my experience there's a higher percentage of quality games on this ladder so far than what I normally find elsewhere. Kudos to @neilgd72 for the hard work that he's put into this.

cool idea
what does it mean by challenges must be accepted

Idea is similar to world no 1 defending his/her title next year. They cant say no I am out and still carry title for coming years.

In ladders also higher up in ladders player have to accept challenges in most circumstances and defend their ladder position.
