At what lichess rating in blitz/rapid can you expect to get the title

I am 1000 Rapid. 1404 FIDE (20+5) Whats wrong. That was 1 lucky tournament.

If you are around 2300+ in online blitz/rapid with no or limited classical chess OTB experience you are no where close to being a CM. I know of many online 2300 juniors who are all under 2000 FIDE. They can bust out 3 move tactical threats faster than most anyone but in classical time controls these threats don't hold up. Different skill sets entirely and lots of bad habits that have to be undone.

I'm very suspicious of puzzle ratings though. For me, anyone can spend hours on puzzles and inflate their rating, despite being bad at chess in real conditions (with a clock and having to find a bunch of non tactical improving moves).

Of course, at population level, it averages out, and puzzle rating correlated in the end. But people should not imagine that they are good at chess because they managed to grind an inflated puzzle rating. Puzzle rating is more like an ego booster, if you want.

I think a more predictive metric of chess skills (blitz especially) is one's average (not best) puzzle storm score. For example, my average puzzle storm is around 18-19, in line with my mediocre blitz rating.

you need to filter for recent games played ... The rapid and classical ratings will be way off as most don't play it, but a lot of lower rated people do

To me this means that simply better titled players will have a better rating but not that when you reach 2500 you will be a gm or play at gm's strength in OTB.

Titled players play here casually, usually mid stream or when practicing something new. If for them online chess was as serious as it is for us their rating would be higher.
