I've said this about similar articles, bujt I'll say it again: This can be applied to many things, not just chess. Other games, skills, etc... all require persistence and dedication to master. Giving up means you never will master them and if it's something one really wanted, you'll be left with a hole. Setbacks are mere blips in the big picture and overcoming them is a level of satisfaction unachievable by any other means.

I'm really glad that you mentioned that age isn't a factor contrary to popular belief too. People think that when you get so-and-so old you reach the point of no return and can no longer perform or learn like someone younger. This number varies by beliefs, which goes to show how silly such beliefs are. If someone really wants something, they will make the time for it and they will keep pursuing it. That also means they will naturally get better at it. So the key is just to never quit.
