Where did it all go wrong

I am confused about this crazy house game.

I thought I played reasonable moves, the computer seems to agree with me on this.
Upto move 7 it feels like I have an advantage, yet at move 9 it looks like black is better.

The engine suggests the only move to keep my advantage is 8. e2 but I really don't get it. Any thoughts are welcome!

It looks like Nxf6 followed by Qxd8 was where you went wrong, although I'm curious as to why...

Engines for variants can have unpredictable evaluations based on the fact that there are much more combinations then the normal game of chess, and it is hard to evaluate certain positions.
