Also seeking to know why its so bad for me to just snatch that pawn .
I understand opponent has some pawn weaknesses on the queenside but I was scared of potential queenside play it may allow him for instance on the semiopen b file or just trying to launch the a pawn forward (I guess I can close the queenside down with a4 but that looks a bit weakening).

Apparently, the thing about 13 Nxc6 is that it gave Ejim the opportunity to go for something like 13...Bxc6 14 Qxc6 Nd5 15 Nxd5 Bxb2 16 Rd1 Bd4 17 c3 Bg7 18 Qxc5 Re8 19 O-O Rc8 20 Qb5 e6 21 Ne3 Rxc3 22 Kh1 Qa8 23 Qa4 Rd8 24 Qe4 Qc8 25 Nc4 Rc2 26 d4 Rxa2.
After 13 O-O-O, the machine sees 13...Be6 14 Rhf1 Bd5 15 Qf2 Nd7 16 Nxd7 Bd4 17 Nxd5 Bxf2 18 Nxe7+ Qxe7 19 Nf6+ Qxf6 20 Bxf6.

The difference is that after O-O-O Kc1 protects bishop Bb2, so 3...Bxc6 14 Qxc6 Nd5 15 Nxd5 Bxb2 no longer works.
