First let's get outside of the box a little because if this had been done right there would have been a nomination process before the vote. And I'm sure there is some person out there that could have come up with logo designs other than a knight? Why did we get stuck with that limitation? But if I had to go with one on that grid, to be honest literally ANY of them would have been better than the one they went with, and I'm serious as a heart attack when I say that. One like f2 for example that is minimalistic and stylized while still retaining the proportions and appearance of a chess piece would have been a lot better. The only scenario in which logo the Lichess elites chose resembles a chess piece, is if you made one out of wax or plastic and melted it down in an oven to a blob.

@Cherry_Operator. I believe this the first time they changed it. And tbh it wouldn't affect recognition, I was playing games from the main menu and hadn't even noticed it changed until I read the forum.

First time they changed it but when people see the new logo they won't associate it with Lichess because they only know the old one.

That's a great example @Sarg0n . Airlines ABSOLUTELY base their flight schedules on customer demand. Any well run organization does.
The only entities that don't consider their users opinions would be ones like prisons.
