When do you think that was made, won’t be contacting him but surely he does have knowledge on it. This is old news and believe me it can be thinner.
It can be thinner -> I wouldn't be so sure. There are physical limits and there is a reason the Square Off pieces are so light. Video is from 2012.

In the add it says "Chessbase: Impressive!" … The whole story gets better and better.
So "Regium" gets no money if this doesn't hit $50k. The KickStarter was at ~$52k about 5 hours after it opened, and it's dropped to ~$40 in the 12 hours since. It seems there's a good amount of pledges where people have commented about it being a scam, so they're likely to pull their pledge as well (but they keep their pledge for now to still have their comment shown).
I'm not sure they'll be able to recover from this in the next two weeks. Of course, KickStarter could pull the plug on this before then.. if they don't then that's pretty disappointing on their part. Really it's kind of pathetic they haven't stopped it already
Who else here, when they saw the first video, was like 'I'm sold!'?
