Hello, i was playing puzzle streak and at the very beggining i got this puzzle: https://lichess.org/training/izcAC . The thing is that this is rated as an 1100 ́s level, but i didnt solve it that easyly. In the first place, after thinking not too long i understood that if you take Qxd6+ and the king moves you can take the bishop cause the rook is treatened and he cant play the desired Nxd3. But then i considered that instead of moving the king he could block with Rf7, and the wining combination after that wasnt so obvious to me. The thing is, i get some 1100 ́s puzzles that are mate in one and then some others like this. Maybe i found certain kind of puzzles harder that others, but the difference is abismal. what do u think about this puzzle, is a 1100 for u?
... I have a feeling you got "stuck in the middle"... I think many weaker players will not even consider the Rf7 defense, and just content themselves with the easy solution as you saw it.
For my part, I did consider Rf7, and the 'test line', Qxd6 Nd3, and directly saw the forcing check sequence that picks the knight.
You were aware enough to see Rf7, but probably struggle with somewhat longer visualizations (even forcing ones)...

Cool, ty for taking the time, and what you say is right. However you dindt answer my cuestion. The thing is, you must dig kind of deep to realize that, and even deeper variations. The pawn on f2 is a huge menace and, for example, you could even think about playing Qe1 in some positions. So, according to what u saw and your experience, is this a 1100 puzzle?

I didn't have any trouble with the desired move and looking at your alternative move by black it seems to me that you could sacrifice your bishop in order to take their rook but I could easily be missing stuff as I'm not that good at these.
Sometimes I'll make mistakes because I'm assuming that I'm expected to check mate in one move or something. At my level of puzzles here, the 1500ish range, I'll often just have no idea what to do next and I'll barrel through all my options to get the expected move, which can take a while.
Puzzle ratings are not evaluated, they are calculated based on who gets them right ot wrong. This means that this problem is 1100 because it has the same fraction of people getting it tight as other 1100 problems.
I explained why I think that is despite your perception that it would be more difficult.
Ty @CG314 , i didnt knew that. Yes, thats the real question, how do "we" percibe this kind of puzzles. cheers

It seems to me that you are expecting either a checkmate or an “overwhelming winning position” as the solution to the puzzle. If you approach it this way, you will overlook a lot.
Sometimes it's just a matter of winning a simple pawn, gaining some other material advantage, or, especially in the more difficult puzzles, finding the right one among several promising-looking variations.
I also wrote something about training with puzzles a while ago, in case you're interested:

It's rated so low because all the noobs just say "ooh free bishop" and neglect the opponent's ideas after that. The vast, vast majority of people solving that puzzle would NOT say "oh qxe6 rf7 qxd6 nxd3 qd8+ rf8 qxd5+ kh8 qxd3 im winning". The puzzle is rated based on how many people get it right, and all the noobs will not see anything past qxe6+ rf7 qxd6. It is very frustrating sometimes as some low rated puzzles can be quite complex. This is an extreme example but still it happens a lot.
Sorry. but yes of course
