cheating on lichess and online chess

Yes, the simplest lies are those to your own self. It doesn't need a point. Still you have to be a blatant crook or super despaired to do it, let alone to think of it, so it's still rare.

I got two point refunds in the last 24 hours so lichess seems to be trying pretty hard to catch cheaters. And to be refunded it needs to be within 20 games so imagine how many they are catching that they don't notify you about.

I probably wouldn't know if someone is cheating against me or not. I mean...they probably wouldn't HAVE to to beat me.

Not sure what you mean? I don't know if someone is cheating against me either unless lichess notifies me in my alerts.

One minute after a player is marked, their 40 latest rated games in the last 5 days are taken. If you were their opponent in one of those games, you lost rating (because of a loss or a draw), and your rating was not provisional, you get a rating refund. The refund is capped based on your peak rating and your rating progress after the game. (For example, if your rating greatly increased after that game, you might get no refund or only a partial refund.)

It's meant to protect the rating system from too much distortion.

Yeah, yeah I understand but can it be 100 games and 10 days if possible. That would be a pleasure

So incredibly many cheaters on lichess nowadays.
So frustrating! It almost ruins the fun it used to be to play around here... very sad indeed.
And lichess does not follow up on reports. Very sad also.
You know the feeling when you are 2350ish and you meet this individual on 1900ish who just throws !!-moves in your face, sometimes three in a row, and you are in Zugzwang in the middle game.
It is so very frustating, because there is no feedback on your reports whatsoever.
Justice is not served.
You fight for rating in order to meet better players, but the cheaters are dragging you down the drain.
I have addressed this problem in concerned emails to lichess, but have not even received an answer.
Warn you: Your platform is so massively infected by cheaters that it takes all the usual pleasure of playing chess away.
Please do something about this huge challenge!
