Hi everyone,
For those of you who coach, or who take lessons from a coach: what's the most annoying part of the practical side? I mean scheduling across time zones, rescheduling, getting paid, or keeping track of what each student is working on between lessons.
What do you use today (messages, a calendar, a spreadsheet, something else), and what works or doesn't work about it?
I'm asking because I'm working on something small for coaches and want to understand how people actually handle this before I build more. Short replies are welcome, and I'll read every one.
Thanks!

- I once had 4 students who knew everything better.
I stopped coaching, and instead played a clock simul against them 4-0.

I only got one student right now.
I feel bad for him cuz he doesn't have much opportunity to play IRL.
Playing online is good for training but it doesn't really build that fire in your belly like having a nemesis IRL.

The student himself must start a notebook, and to record what he studied and what he trained. For the report, he takes a photo of the notebook and sends the coach. NOT COMP, ONLY PAPER.

I don't teach chess. I've been told I would be an excellent teacher, but:
Not everyone can be a chess coach and you need to recognize that you don't have the correct mindset to do it, firstly.
Second, you can certainly use a comp for notes, position collection, etc. Not everyone can write and wax poetic for their lessons. I personally collect chess information using Chessbase 13.
I have written lessons I have lifted from various sources, bunches of text files within Chessbase for different aspects of training across the entire spectrum of chess.
Taking advantage of computers is a big plus and should not be ignored off the cuff.
My 2c.

The most annoying part I heard is when a student plays terribly in a tournament and the family thinks it is the coach's fault that their kid (student) failed the tournament. Like how is it the coach's fault?!?!
