Do you think i should play d4 or e4 if im 1700 rapid?

i like d4, i used to play e4 and i think its more solid for white, d4 i feel like gets very theoretical and complex. I use d4 for white because it so good at attacking and ive beaten the level 6 bot and gotten good positions against level 7 bot, but im thinking about switching back to e4 and playing the Spanish for black d4 i just play the slav

It does not matter, both are good. So are 1 Nf3 or 1 c4.

I would not make this decisions by results against the bot! For me it sounds like, you feel more confortable with e4!

My tip, although many might disagree, play bullet games with e4 and d4 and compare what feels better! Just make sure to stop playing bullet games afterwards otherwise you might get addicted. (˃̣̣̥ᯅ˂̣̣̥)

e4 you need to learn a thousand variations.
d4 you can learn one Colle opening! Use it.

I played both for years - and stick to d4 lately, I am 2000 blitz. But asking someone else what to play is like asking which car you should buy. You will always feel more comfortable in what you play more. I find lichess Insights solid to help me figure out how do I do in which opening - and then work on a bad variation. But only you can say which positions feel right for you.

I would recommend e4 and learning opening theory, confronting yourself to dynamic-Open positions.

playing d4 seems to be better nowadays, but really just play the one you like better.

I always play d4 or Nf3 because I don't have to memorize as many openings and can play a Catalan-like system most of the time. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this because it gets pretty dull after a while. I think e4 might be more useful at 1700 rating because it tends to lead to more tactical positions.
