If you think about it, the games we play are not compensated for by anything. Also, anyone can see our games. It's like we are sharing the wealth.

The day Lichess force all players to salute a portrait of Thibault before every match, I'll say yes.
(Also, that's quite an original thought you've got there... :) )

I think we all need to refresh ourselves with the definition of communism, dictatorship, etc.
Who owns lichess? Is it the community? nope, it's a company registered in france I believe, don't know what sort of company or who exactly are the owner(s).

communism isn't a dictatorship. The day we all own a share of lichess would be the day we could call it communism.
i would say right now it's more like a dictatorship. we have to agree to the rules and if we get caught breaking them enough times we get banned. that sounds similar to a dictatorship to me.
currently there's no rule to say we have to salute a portrait of Thibault, but, Thibault could add that rule (well, whoever is in charge of changing the rules could add that rule, I'm assuming Thibault could add and change whatever rule he wants)

No, if it were communist it would be the worst chess server, not the best.

The lichess share price is still at $0, and will stay at $0 for the future I guess, so I don't think anyone will think about buying a lichess share.

yes we are a family of chess loving communists :)

One of the worst things of communism is their attempt to create a new type of human being. As long as lichess does not try to make sheckley667 out of me, I will not consider them communist.

It could be run by Communists... but then we’d all be eating porridge while they ate steak, the site wouldn’t be working for 3 days a week for us but always be available to them, the lights would go out when it gets dark and dissenters would be taken from their beds at night and never heard from again. Playing on .com would be banned and there’d be a reward for grassing up anyone that did so they could be shot at dawn.
Until then, Lichess isn’t communist.

Nah. That may be that case if Lichess were a government. Being subject of the whimps of a private company and suffer the consequences if you don't is called capitalism.
