Fischer vs Karpov

Can Ai help here create two characters Karpov and Fischer ? Then put their games to each of them. there should be also some recent world champions games as help. Then those two robots plays two tournaments. First that level, which they were in those days, when they were in top of the world. Second tournament includes games from todays masters. There we have a chance see which one was better. There still are some questions open. Good ancient players should have their own robots. AI could get them even better and open new door in advanced chess.

"when they were in top of the world"

  • Fischer was at the top of the world in 1972.
Karpov came at the top of the world in 1978.
In 1975 Korchnoi was still better than Karpov.

"some of Fischer's best winning games, when submitted to Stockfish, are riddled with inaccuracies."

  • The same with Carlsen, or Kasparov. The Sherwin game is from 1957, when Fischer was 14 years old.
If you want to scrutinize his games, then please take games of 1971 - 1972.

"He became World Champion just once."

  • He beat Taimanov 6 - 0, Larsen 6 - 0, Petrosian 6.5 - 2.5 and then Spassky 12.5 - 8...

nobody cares what stockfish says , humans have different scores ,dosent matter if its unsound for an engine ,but it must be practically good, chasing that accuracy benchmark sometimes takes the creativity out of us

By the way, don‘t forget how weak they had become after a couple of moves way back. Practically all games had been adjourned and analysed by a 3rd party.

"Practically all games had been adjourned and analysed by a 3rd party."

  • Fischer analyzed his games himself. He had a second Lombardy much weaker than himself. During analysis his second suggested a certain rook move, Fischer said no, the rook belongs there. The second insisted. Fischer said: no, it is something I know, I will not hear it again.

It would be interesting to see the performance vs common opponents. For example, what was Karpov's record vs Spassky, Taimanov, Tal, Petrossian, etc...

Karpov - Spassky + 30-1=22
Karpov - Taimanov +4-1=4
Karpov - Tal +1-0=19
Karpov - Petrosian -2+1=13

Wow Karpov really owned Spassky!

Yes. Karpov in 75 was a notch above anybody Fischer had faced.

Why do these people keep mentioning the 6-0 vs Taimanov? Why do they forget 3-5 vs Geller?? In addition, Taimanov was not the second or 3rd best player in the world. He was just a strong player, but there are tens of thousands of them around. Magnus Carlsen held his crown when there are
Nepo
Fabiano
Hikaru
Firouzja
and the list goes on. These are chess gods; staying among the top 20 or fabi that was always top 5.
This is how you measure someone's strength. Taimanov, Sherwin......
