To clarify what am I referring to, I upload screenshots that show the application of classification keys to a random database (Lichess database of august 2026). Inside those classification keys rests all the chess theory-strategy ready to be implemented in our game databases!!!

To link to your questions, dear reader, I must share my perspective on calculation and chess improvement. From what I have perceived up to that point (as you must have already understood, I am a newbie to chess), advancement in chess does not come by mere calculation skills. But it mainly comes by recognition and understanding of the broader strategic themes and motifs that chess theory offers, and those themes are so nicely presented and utilised in the 2007 version of MEGA DATABASE, and in the chess base reader + database combo that came with Daniel King’s DVD - Greek Gift.
The knowledge that rests inside those old classification keys far surpasses in importance all the development that the last twenty years have
been applied through the newer versions of chess base or chess assistant or any other product. Also, it is hard to find it gathered all together in books or in any other physical or programmed product.
For the sake of clarity, I should add that we do not need to transfer or edit the keys; just open the MEGA DATABASE 2007 first and afterwards open an old, formatted game database with the same instance of the chess base reader. Good luck to us all.

I don't know if it is good or not, but there must be websites to find it for free.
When I bought MEGA DATABASE 2007 I should have paid about 40,00 ~ 50,00 € Now prices have quad tripled and salaries (here in Greece) decreased. Of course, for European standards, prices are normal and well cooked!
Considering my own experience, I am lacky ... I started buying all this staff ante marriage ̇ of course, I had to keep some secret logistical books, from my wife. I also want to thank all of you that directly or indirectly, pay my salary...
Anyway, I will try to insert an empty chess base reader database with all available classification keys or even better I will add the small databases that I am going to generate, based on the classification keys. Games are from free Lichess databases, so I think it will be legal and legendary. It will be possible for anyone to open them with just a free chess base reader!

Xmmmm ... at 1800 ELO you probably already know this but speaking for analysis there is Maia site that offer unapparelled analysis by Lc0 with interchangeable weights (Maia) paired side by side with Stockfish evaluations and analysis. Leila shows you the Win Drow Loss percentages for every move-position!!

Last but not least I urge you to use AI (Google chat or anything else) which is free (at least here in Greece). Analyze first with whatever site – engine you can and ask this omnipresent and ubiquitous semi god to explain the strategy, tactics and pawn formation themes for both sides (White Black) of your analyzed game/s!

Aaaa ... concerning books I have so many .... But I have no time to read them, so consider e-books!!! With e-books you can read and interact with the relevant position/s in the e-book’s chessboard!!!! You read and learn instantly all in one package. I found e-books late in my chess buying life circle, ... now I have more than one hundred books seating in the selves, their use is to serve as a background when I attend Webex meetings.
