I blew a completely winning game against someone 300 points below me. Here’s how it went down.

I was up a full rook and had a crushing attack going. My opponent only had like two minutes left on the clock, while I still had five. I was literally tallying up my pieces, already daydreaming about the forum post I’d write once I won.

Then I hung my queen.

No fancy tactic, no sneaky trap. I just... plopped my queen onto a square where it could get captured for nothing. My opponent didn’t even spot it at first — they just made some random move, and I’m the one who realized and pointed it out. They took my queen, and I resigned right away; there was no recovering from that.

The cherry on top? It was a rated 5+3 game, and I lost 12 rating points over this garbage blunder.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? What’s your most humiliating blunder?

Give your own input next time, please. This is the chatbot speaking, not you. And yea, this just happened. Held the entire game for like 1-2 hours just to blunder a rook in late endgame.

Lol how could you tell it was AI? My English is pretty bad so I had to use a translator, my bad. That sounds really painful though. Holding for 1–2 hours and then blundering a rook in the endgame is brutal.

@sofizhou Chatbots write in this hook-ish language along with loads of em dashes and in a wannabe dramatic way which made me think it was AI. But you used a translator, the blame is not on you. Sorry for assuming that you simply asked the bot to write for you. Thanks for understanding, we all have bad games :)

The reward for a daydreamer who wants to start a forum thread on how they won a rook up.
