Hey everyone,
I made a magnetic chess set for the fridge. I know the concept of "fridge chess" isn't new, but honestly, I think design matters, and the existing ones just didn't look right to me.
This isn't my first hanging chess project, but this time I wanted to make something compact.

I named it ChessboPIN.
I'd love to hear what you guys think about it! Let me know your thoughts.

The design looks good and the empty squares can be used for post-it notes. Try brining it to a club and play OTB!
The displayed position is boring. Look up Smyslov v Panov, Moscow championship 1943. No pieces were exchanged after 39 moves and you can set that one up, plus it's a nice win by Smyslov.

Thanks, that move from the game is a great idea—there’s always a lack of time for important things like that.

ah, it needs a base with a magnet, and the top with the board to be spinnable.
then after your move, you spin the board umop apisdn so your opponent is on the bottom.
bonus, it's easy to tell from a distance if it's your move. If your colour is on the top, your opponent hasn't moved yet. if your colour is on the bottom, it's your move.

I actually built a large chessboard once with white on top.
Generally, vertical boards have their pros and cons like anything else. It's more of a reflection of chess books and diagrams — nice for study/puzzles :) but that's just my take.
And actually, someone recently suggested making a version that flips orientation like on a computer screen

@h2b2 What a clever way to solve the problem, a spinner magnet, I didnt think of that. Brilliant idea!
