Your big mistake is in not having toggled takebacks off. This prevents all this drama.

I never ask for one or accept a request. To me, takeback is like 'touch move' OTB but even worse since move confirmation is available for those who are prone to mouse errors.
Plus many takeback requests are rude. Like making a blunder in a fast time control and then asking for a takeback, whose fault is that? Or making a blunder in a position that's already losing, the takeback only prolongs a game whose outcome is decided. And where does it end, I've had people ask for multiple takebacks in a game?

I always found the touch move rule in OTB weird but takebacks on the other hand should not be allowed imo

Astonishing how overwhelming the consensus is on this and astonishing how wrong the mob is. A takeback is a useful feature for people who have a love of the game. For example you are in the middle of a really good game and one party makes a mouse slip, something which I will remind you is not part of this history of the game of chess.
White plays 1. QxQ and black intends to play ...RxQ an equal trade. But instead his mouse drops his rook one square short and this allows white to play 2. QxR. Game ruined because of what is an undeniable mouse slip.
Then comes out the pettiness. "But it's your fault you had the mouse slip". Well maybe, but who cares? Are you more concerned about playing silly blame games over mice slips or about having a good game of chess? I think it's a sign of the times and the level of toxicity we are living in that the mob is so sure of themselves over this issue because I'm pretty sure that that the manner and etiquette with which chess players conducted themselves in past eras would have given them a different opinion on it.
And the thing is, this pettiness is cutting off your nose despite your face. Because the one who it robbed you of a good game of was you.
