Yeah it’s non negotiable coz there’s nothing to negotiate.
Free service, take it or leave it, Karen.

If u paid any attention you would be aware of some things:

  • performance is better than anything else. World #1 from free platform
  • Lichess can not rent you a new ISP or build your countries infrastructure
  • while it is correct you shouldn’t use knockout arguments in a proper discussion, I’m n...

so youre saying let these types of errors happen? innocent peoples games being lost becuase of them thinking it was their oppoents time running out and not theirs ? oh yeah sure okay . look im not tryna be rude or everything, but every site can improve thats why lichess made fedback forum to try and cosntsnly make it better instead of keeping thier services like"take it or leave it we wont fix anything" thas not how it works , they also want everyone to have a fair and nice experince . as the person above commented like he explained perfectly a person donating moldy bread to a homeless man wont do anything and him saying take it or leave it, instead of saying take it or leave it we should activley use the site find flaws and tell lichess to fix it if that take it or leave it mentality exsisted in lichess why would the devs still be working, they are intrested in improving the site . hope you understand @Rookitiki . also to add i dont hate lichess i very much like it but this issue is very important to fix

This error is on client/ISP side.
It never occurs randomly. Always accompanied by lag.

So how is Lichess gonna fix that?
Make new cables in the oceans?

How about you stop straw man arguments and focus on what’s actually happening? It’s pitiful how you keep missing the point.

the points isnt the internet. its a UX issue, show that that our time is being ran out instead of theirs , the points isnt about lag its about the expeirnce if our time is running it MUST show it is running ,not showing that our oppenents time is running but in actual our time is running , that wasnt the point .

One advice is when opponent is thinking too much just refresh. When you think you should like in classical 30 secs or 1min in rapid like 15+10 every 10 - 15 secs and 10 + 0 same.

“The point isn’t the internet.”
If u say so, i better believe it. For the non-trolls:

When you send your move, the script in the browser updates the clock. When you receive the opponent’s answer your clock will be updated again with the actual server time. So if your move does not reach Lichess, the situation happens.

It’s not an option to have your time be counting down after u made the move, because then your whole game experience would be choppy (“stutterstep”).

Also even worse would be “rubberbanding”, this would be confusing/unplayable for a turn-based game.

Nothing of this matters or is of any concern if your connection is alright. Which - again and again - makes internet the point.
