I've been getting people aborting instantly after D4. U should be penalised for refusing it surely?

I get it, people hate the London but I'm a beginner and I score best by far with this. I'm having a moan because surely you can't just decide not to play certain openings.

I don't lose elo either way but the person refusing to play will benefit from only playing openings they like. Refusing after 1d4 instantly is surely manipulating elo, at least slightly.

Im only 1200 and my London games are more accurate than ever lately, my black games are disastrous so can I just refuse e4 and wait for my preference to be played because I'm sure I'd win more only playing D4 games, but it's chess not choice.

Rant over ..... anyone agree it's a bit shaky or do they have the right to abort D4.

My friend, don't bother learning and thinking about openings at this level. You can reach 1700 with just tactics and the Italian opening.

I don't play the London, never have, and I've been playing 1 d4 for almost 50 years. I can laugh off the aborts after one move, but I blame the London 100%. I like facing the London, as at my level most London players miss tactics by move 10.

I also like starting with 1.d4 followed by 2.b3, fianchettoing my queen’s bishop on the queenside.

They are penalised... Not the first time they do it (it starts with a few warnings), but they accumulate. If they do it too often they will first get a relatively short play ban, with bans getting progressively longer if they continue.

I do not know what the thresholds are (and thus cannot have an opinion on if they are aggressive enough or not) but the basic mechanism is in place.

Some people abort when they have the black pieces, some people abort if you play 1 d4 or 1 b4 or c4... ignore them. As already mentioned, they will eventually get a ban and no one ever got good at chess by avoiding openings they don't play well against.
