A number of respected authors (#6) seem to have thought that it was worth dwelling on the bishop-knight-position-dependence thing.

not really helpfull, checkmateKevin, as I was asking about trading in the opening.
Summing up, I think it's not worth escaping a trade in the opening. At my level a 0.3 loss move in the opening is feeling like a 0.0 move.
Thanks all for helping.

If I remember correctly, after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 a6 4 Ba4 Nf6 5 O-O Be7 6 Re1 b5 7 Bb3 d6 8 c3 O-O 9 h3 Na5, the standard move is 10 Bc2.
