"Lag compensation" is anything but, there must be a better way to deal with internet lag

This was simply ridiculous. He was near zero on his clock but kept getting extra time, I'm just frantically checking his king because if I actually take the time to analyze the position I'll be the one who loses. Yes, I won, so you know it's not sour grapes, but really.

And there are plenty of times when I've benefited from this arbitrary treatment of lag as well as the lag itself. Sometimes the defective lag compensation favors the non lagging side!

They got back the time that they lost due to lag.

The problem is not lag. It's picking the wrong time control. Black ran out of time on move 40.
Pick 3+2 increment time and that flat line would of started where the game ended.
