When players are focused on the board, the clock on the side is easy to miss. That is a basic usability issue: critical information should become more visible as urgency increases.
In the final 10 seconds, show a clear visual cue directly on or around the board—not just in the corner. Lichess already uses on-board badges/icons, so the same approach could work well here.
Small UX change. Minimal implementation impact. Potentially prevents countless unnecessary time losses.
Please consider this seriously.

that would be assisting the player. can be done would beat the point that is players responsibility to manage his time. No one will give you low time warning in real world either. In case ever intend engage such an event better learn to check your clock anyway.

technically lichess already gives you more help with low time than you would get in an otb game due to the sound possiblily @petri999

I have sound on when time gets critical and sometimes still miss it that I guess is OP's issue.
Having said that it's a hard balancing act since if you go too far you'll get people posting that they got distracted by the time warning instead. There's also issue of when you play with an increment when you could either play fast enough to no longer be in time trouble or get warning every single move.

If you install LiChess Tools, you have more options, including having the number of seconds left spoken to you when the time is under 6 seconds. More can be added on demand, if they make sense.

For me the 10s warning doesn’t work at all since some update two years ago (iOS Safari).
I lose many games to that as I’m completely unable to watch the clock and solely relied on that audio clue to start premoving.
But the problem is not niche cases like mine. Instead players, who are in environment where they can’t have audio (public transport, etc). Also players with impaired hearing ofc.
So I second the request.
Maybe it can get moved into proper forum instead being closed?

This should be in the feedback forum.
