Lost to an excavator... Need offline training ideas

Dear community,

after thoroughly checking news from my internet provider, I finally found that my internet connection is extremely slow because it is under repair at some remote site of my provider and shall be fully operational again march 26, 2026 CET.
I could use some advice for offline training for an otb unrated frustrated patzer, sometimes this is translated as "adult improver".
My best guess would be some beginner tactics books or some nice "offline" app.

For now this post is just venting, but I know that this community can turn it into something useful.

If you lost a game of chess to an excavator, I must commend the skill of the operator to even be able to move the pieces with the machine.

Buy a book and work through it with a board and pieces.

I have created an app which works completely offline.
It can be used to

  • train tactics.
  • to play against various bots.

See more there https://lichess.org/@/Alakaluf/blog/elevate-your-chess-game-with-the-chess-knight-fork-app/czYQokx1.

It is called Chess Knight Forks as its original sole purpose was to train knight forks. So in the standard version, the playing against bots is not enabled. Enable it by typing playbot into the edit field at the lower right on the settings page.
