Pop that bubble. Puzzle Streak is more meaningful than a puzzle rating.

Are people reacting negatively to Lichess puzzles because they are too difficult, detached from chess and practical chess ability, require too much time, are not very intuitive or aligned with chess instincts because they involve pure calculation and feel like mindless computer work, demand enormous mental effort, etc.? By “reacting,” I mean the kind of response where someone suggests that you try solving an endgame study, and you immediately get frustrated because it is difficult and you see little benefit in doing it, judging its value solely by the narrow criterion of improving your chess.
That’s shortsighted.
It is an important skill and it shows your good concentration and paitions! That is very important. Keep going, but don't forget about the other skills you need in chess!

I don't play chess, and you can't judge the value of chess puzzles solely by chess-related criteria just because they feature chess positions. If that's the case, then you might as well dismiss all the chess puzzles that you consider useless according to your own criteria. I'm criticizing the criterion of evaluating chess puzzles in terms of chess itself, or, in other words, evaluating the value of a puzzle according to just one single criterion: its usefulness for chess. You can certainly argue against someone's claim that solving difficult Lichess puzzles is highly beneficial for chess skills, but don't assume that everyone in the world uses puzzles to train their chess skills. That's why I consider that claim short-sighted. What if they solve puzzles because they want to compete in puzzle-solving competitions? What if they solve puzzles to train their concentration and calculation skills for studying philosophy? Striving to increase one's puzzle Elo is clearly beneficial for these purposes because it keeps them solving increasingly difficult puzzles. Chess puzzles are not intended solely to train one's chess-playing ability. Don't get that wrong.
